Statement lip trends of 2021

In the beginning of the pandemic, wearing makeup, specifically lipsticks, wasn’t an option since our mouths would be covered with face masks, there’s no use in using lipstick since we can’t show it off with our full looks. But there has been a drastic change in April of 2021, the sales of lipsticks were much much higher than the year before, and wearing summer lip colors is becoming popular again. Even though we are still required to wear face masks in most public places, restrictions are less because more and more people are getting vaccinated against the virus and we can finally show off our statement lips. In this article, we’ll be discussing the top lipstick trends for this year, and maybe you can choose your statement lip. From bold orange lip colors to softer shades, all these looks will make people around you look again, wondering if you have changed anything in your look.

Berry tinted-lips

You can easily get this trend with just a few swipes to create a complete monochromatic makeup, dab your lips with your fingers, and then apply the excess to your cheeks for a warm blush.  Lip stains provide a soft, faded color that you won’t even remember it’s there. You no longer have to worry about reapplying makeup every half an hour. When the almost non-existent hue begins to fade, it spreads evenly instead of leaving one piece at a time. Putting on lip tint shows that you are doing something to still look simple yet presentable. If you are busy attending meetings or appointments, you won’t have to worry about smears. You need a lip that can move with your lifestyle.

Glossy lips

Recreating this is very simple, while you can still customize this makeup trend to any kind of look you’re going after. You can apply a layer of gloss on your lips to get better and fuller looking lips. Apply a layer of gloss to enhance the volume of your lips by putting an outline on your lips with a lip liner and then apply the gloss on top, or you can also apply your lip gloss after a matte lipstick.

Two-toned lips

The 90’s and Y2K beauty trends are back. Lip liners are usually the support of matte lipsticks, but with modern interpretations of familiar trends like two-toned lips, the lip liners take the center stage. To try this trend, use nude colors or colored lip liners to outline your lips, and then apply a nude lip gloss for a more pronounced two-tone makeup. If you prefer a subtle gradient effect, after applying the gloss, lightly blend the lip liner and lip gloss with your fingers.

Orange lipstick

Last but definitely not the least, what else can be a more of a statement than wearing a bold color? Orange lips are cooler than the classic crimson red lip, but still more mature and durable than a bubble gum pink lip. To try this look, use a lip scrub to remove and/or smoothen your base layer. Then fill the entire lips with an orange lip pencil to extend the wear time of your orange lipstick. Apply orange lipstick on the top and lightly press some translucent powder on the top to maintain and make this look stay on for a longer period of time. It’s bold, energetic and daring, and you will definitely experience a boost in your self-esteem and confidence when trying this makeup trend on.
