If you haven’t tried the Bacon King from Burger King yet, you have to so ASAP. It’s seriously good, and it’s better than any other bacon cheeseburger out there.

What do you mean, you haven’t tried the Bacon King yet? It’s true that the Whopper is always a good choice if you’re in Burger King. It’s a classic for a reason. But the Bacon King may well become another Burger King classic as well. It’s really that good, and it really lives up to its royal name.

Ingredients

It’s made with the following ingredients:
2 tasty flame-grilled patties, with each one weighing 4.4 ounces
6 substantial strips of thickly cut smoked bacon
4 slices of melted American cheese
Mayo and ketchup
The standard soft sesame seed bun
Let’s start with the patties. The original patties weighed 4 ounces, which equals a quarter of a pound. But some people complained that when cooked, the patties ended up weighing less. That’s why Burger King increased the patty size to 4.4 ounces.

Of course, that also made the price a bit higher. You’ll pay a whopping $7 for a Bacon King in the US, on average. Some might think that’s too high a price for a fast-food burger, but this is a Bacon King. It’s not exactly an ordinary burger.

Why Is It Great?

There are several reasons for its greatness, and here are some of them:

Terrific Flavor

This is the main reason why trying this Bacon King once will likely make you into a lifelong fan. Those flame-grilled beef patties offer that Burger King signature flavor. This might bring about some nostalgia, as these patties might be a bit similar to what you enjoyed when you were grilling burgers in your own backyard. But while this patty may seem the same, it also seems just a bit better than that.
Then you have the mayo along with plenty of melted cheese. These ingredients add some nice creaminess to all that saltiness. It’s a great pairing. Finally, there’s the bacon—that perfect bacon.
In the end, it’s like adding 1+1+1 and ending up with 1,000. It’s really greater than the sum of its parts. It’s a magical mix that you can’t really explain, but you’ll know it when you taste it.

Great Build

With all those ingredients, you’d think you’d invariably end up with a royal mess to contend with. But that’s not the case at all. Everything holds together nicely. You won’t have to end up with pieces of bacon falling out of the bun.
The build also offers you consistently even bites that include all the ingredients. Every bite gives you that same fantastic taste, with that perfect combination of flavors.

What About Your Other Options?

Obviously, Burger King isn’t the only fast-food brand that ever thought about adding bacon to a burger. There are quite a few of them out there, and many of them are fantastic in their own right. Sure, none of them are as good as the Bacon King, but many of them are good.
It’s just that there’s something wrong with each and everyone of them, when you compare each one to the Bacon King.
So, let’s see if we can pinpoint the weakness of the other challengers to the Bacon King:
Checkers Baconzilla! It’s a great bacon burger, and many say that it’s a challenger to the Bacon King. Nothing’s really wrong with it, to be honest. It’s just that the Bacon King tastes a bit better, with more bacon and more cheese. This one only has 4 slices of bacon and 2 slices of cheese, while the Bacon King has 6 slices of bacon and 4 slices of cheese.
Sonic Drive-In SuperSONIC Bacon Double Cheeseburger. This needs more bacon, as it only has 2 strips. And the build isn’t all that stable, so you may end up with a mess. You have to be Super careful, though it tastes great, nonetheless.
Wendy’s Baconator. This is the bacon burger that lots of people think about first when considering a bacon burger. It even has 6 pieces of applewood smoked bacon, although the bacon doesn’t taste as great as what you’d find in other bacon burgers. It’s relatively simple with no traditional toppings like lettuce, onions, pickles, and tomatoes. But it can be argued that with the 6 bacon strips, you don’t really need those toppings.
Bacon and Cheese Whataburger. This is another excellent challenger to the Bacon King. But you only have 3 strips of bacon and a single slice of American cheese.
McDonald’s Quarter Pounder with Cheese Bacon. The QP with C is already great, and the addition of the bacon should make it even better, right? But it didn’t exactly turn out that way. The tastiness of the beef patty (even with just one) simply overpowers the bacon.
So, yes there are plenty of tasty bacon burgers out there. But there’s only one Bacon King, long may it reign!
