You can’t use water that has come out of the faucet until it’s been properly seasoned. You also have to make sure that you drain the water out of the pipes before it begins to evaporate. These things can take up to a year to pay for themselves.
Another con is that portable tankless water heaters are not the most energy efficient. If you compare the energy consumption of two models of portable tankless heaters, you’ll see that the heat from one is about double that of the other. So that means you’ll need to make up the difference in energy consumption by using less natural gas or electricity. In general, the most efficient way to go is to go with the natural gas heat source. That way you’ll get the greatest overall value and the least amount of electric or natural gas used.
