PAN card stands for Permanent Account Number, is a unique number that provides a taxpayer with identification status in India. It is an electronic system to help taxpayers get their tax information and keep records of a person related to tax through a unique PAN number. Two tax-paying persons and companies can not have the same PAN card. This PAN card is considered the primary key to store tax information all over India. 

Who is eligible for a PAN Card?

Every company or individual who pays tax in India will be issued a PAN Card. There are several types of PAN cards including, Company, HUF, Individual, Trusts, Firms, Foreigners, and  Society. To get your PAN card, you should have two documents, Proof of Address and Proof of Identity. You have to pay a small fee for a PAN card from RS.110 to RS.1020.

How to enrol for a PAN Card?

There are two ways to enrol for the PAN card online and offline. Let’s discuss both of them. 

Online Method:

  • Go to NSDL or UTIITSl website
  • To register, click on the form and fill out the form
  • Pay the fee
  • You will receive your PAN card at the address that you write on the submission form

Offline Method:

  • Go to an authorized PAN centre
  • Get the application form
  • Fill that form, attach the documents that are required
  • Submit the form and papers along with the fee
  • Your PAN card will be sent to the address that you write on the submission form

This is a 20 page document that can be purchased separately by non-residents who plan to work in India as well. There may be a nominal application fee depending on which stationery store you buy them from but they should only cost around Rs 50 apiece if you go this route! When all
