Dallas Wings guards Paige Bueckers, 25, and Azzi Fudd, 23, have confirmed that their romantic relationship is over. The announcement came on November 6, 2026, during Fudd’s iHeart podcast, “Fudd Around and Find Out”, with Bueckers joining her as a guest.

There was one detail many fans had missed. The pair had actually separated more than a year ago, before Dallas selected Fudd in the 2026 WNBA Draft. Their revelation finally addressed months of questions about their personal history and life together in the same locker room.

What They Said about Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd Breakup on the Podcast

Fudd wasted little time addressing the subject of Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd breakup. Laughing, she opened the discussion with a simple statement: “We are no longer together.”

Bueckers then explained that their relationship had ended “over a year” earlier. She added that neither owed the public an explanation, although they had decided to speak because people kept asking how former partners could comfortably share a professional locker room.

There was a clear reason for setting the record straight. Bueckers wanted to put an end to suggestions that their relationship had continued into the draft period.

“We were not together before she got drafted, so all of those narratives can go to bed.”

She also made clear that the two remain friends. They are “still cool” and intend to work together as professional teammates.

Fudd agreed. They had discussed what needed to be discussed, she said, while “the rest will stay with us”. Neither appeared interested in turning a private separation into a public spectacle.

Why the Timing Matters: The Draft Question

The timing of the breakup matters because of Dallas’ decision to select Fudd first overall on April 13, 2026. It was the second consecutive year the Wings had used the No. 1 pick on a UConn guard. Bueckers went first in 2025.

That coincidence attracted attention. Some critics and commentators suggested the relationship between the players had influenced the team’s decision.

Bueckers rejected that idea on the podcast. “She was not drafted because she was my girlfriend, she was drafted because she deserved it.”

Fudd had plenty of basketball evidence behind her selection. She won the 2025 Final Four Most Outstanding Player award, averaged 17.3 points per game as a UConn senior and ranked among Division I’s leading three-point shooters with a 45.5% mark.

Dallas general manager Curt Miller also described her as one of the best shooters in the game. The numbers made a strong case on their own.

A Relationship That Played Out in Public

Their connection stretched back years before either became a professional player. Bueckers and Fudd first played together in USA Basketball youth teams in 2017, competing at the FIBA Americas U16 tournament in Argentina.

They later became teammates at UConn, playing together from 2021 to 2025 and winning the national championship in 2025.

Fans began paying closer attention to their relationship that year. Fudd’s phone case, which read “Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend”, added fuel to the speculation. In July 2025, Bueckers confirmed they were together during a WAG Talk TikTok interview at WNBA All-Star week.

By October, rumours of trouble had started. Fudd did not post anything for Bueckers’ 24th birthday on October 20. Some fans took the silence as a sign of a breakup, although the speculation was widely dismissed at the time.

The subject returned after Dallas drafted Fudd. On April 16, 2026, the Wings’ public relations team blocked a reporter’s question about their relationship at Fudd’s introductory press conference.

At media day on April 27, Bueckers addressed the attention herself. She called their relationship “nobody’s business but our own” and said she would discuss it only once. That promise now makes more sense.

Where Things Stand With the Wings

Bueckers offered another detail on the podcast: “We broke up over a year ago, so we played an entire season together.”

Fudd’s rookie campaign included 30 games and an average of 13.1 points per game. She also set a Wings rookie record for three-pointers. Her season ended early after her last appearance on August 5. She underwent arthroscopic surgery on her right knee and missed the remainder of the campaign.

Dallas still had a strong season. The Wings finished 27-17, recording a franchise-high number of wins in Jose Fernandez’s first season as head coach.

Their playoff run ended in a 2-1 first-round series defeat against the Golden State Valkyries. Golden State went on to win the 2026 championship, beating the Atlanta Dream in Game 7 on October 31.
